(a) In the middle of March the Japanese suddenly announced that as from the 15th April there would be no further official issue of rice rations.

(b)

This can only mean that, as all previous evidence has indicated, the food situation in the colony is going from bad to worse. (See Weekly Summary No.68, 18. Hongkong).
